On Tuesday, December 3rd, the Sin Titulo Gallery hosted The Mexican Museum for An Evening with The Mexican Museum at Project Artaud, SPACE 124. Located in San Francisco’s Mission District, Space 124 provides the neighborhood, arts educators, and local, national and international artists with project space who otherwise would not have access to an affordable space. In line with the museum’s mission to preserve, promote, and celebrate the rich heritage and contributions of Latinos, Mexicans, and Mexican Americans in San Francisco and beyond, the evening celebrated the legacy of the museum along with community organizing and sharing updates on the timeline for reopening the museum. The event connected the past and present of the museum not only through dialogue, but also through networking with light refreshments. Throughout a community forum, images played in the background highlighting some of the museum archives from all 5 collection areas: Pre-Hispanic Art, Colonial Period, Popular Art, Mexican and Latin American Art, and Mexican American, Chicano and Latino Contemporary Art.
