An exhibition in the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco's Katz Snyder Galley
Presented by The Mexican Museum and the Jewish Community Center of San Francisco

February 1 – June 3, 2016

Curator: David J. de la Torre

¡Que Rico, Que Bueno! celebrates the proud legacies and rich traditions of Mexican art and culture and demonstrates how popular indigenous themes and folk art traditions continued to inspire artists well into the 20th century. The exhibition includes art forms from the pre-Hispanic or Mesoamerican era, continuing through the Spanish colonial period to folk, modern and contemporary art with an emphasis on the work of San Francisco Latino artists. The special exhibition includes selections from local private collections and the permanent collection of the Mexican Museum, which is currently celebrating its 40th anniversary. The exhibition focuses on the rich traditions of Mexican and Latino art and culture, from ancient to contemporary art forms, with examples of pre-Hispanic, Colonial, folk, fine and contemporary works including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, glass and works on paper.
