Cinco de Mayo at the Museo

Friday, May 5, 2017unnamed
5:00 - 8:00 P.M.
The Mexican Museum

The Mexican Museum is a 40 year old institution that strives to educate the public about Latin America’s rich history and culture. Did you know that on May 5th of 1862, the Mexican Army defeated the French at the Battle of Puebla? This unlikely defeat became a symbol of hope and resistance. Although not a major holiday in Mexico, it gained popularity here during the rise of the Chicano movement. It is truly an American holiday!

We invite you to celebrate the occasion with us and challenge your perceptions of what Mexican Contemporary art looks like. Explore Tramas Urbanas, an exhibition featuring the work of textile artist Paloma Torres. Thanks to our co-sponsors at Tommy's Margarita and Casa Sanchez, we will be serving margaritas and light bites during our extended evening hours!
