Hours: Flexible, Monday-Friday 10am-5pm, 17-20 hours/week
DESCRIPTION: This position has the responsibilities of aiding staff with museum programming-related duties, office management, financial recordkeeping, and customer service.
Arts Administration Intern will help manage events and educational programs, help with daily adminstrative tasks, assist the Deputy Administrator with daily financial record keeping, and assist visitors in the galleries.
He/she must be enrolled in a four-year university. Successful candidate should have the ability to work successfully in a fast-paced environment while managing multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent communication and organization skills are necessary. Bilingual Spanish speaking skills are desired but not necessary.
Founded by San Francisco artist Peter Rodriguez in 1975 in the heart of the Mission District and now at Fort Mason Center, The Mexican Museum is the realization of a vision to exhibit the aesthetic expression of the Mexican and Mexican American people. Today, the museum's vision has expanded to reflect the evolving scope of the Mexican, Chicano and Latino experience – including art, culture, history and heritage. The museum currently has a permanent collection of more than 15,500 objects reflecting Pre-Hispanic, Colonial, popular, Modern and Contemporary Mexican, Latino and Chicano art. The Mexican Museum is open Wednesday - Sunday from noon to 4 p.m. FREE Admission. The Museum is located at 2 Marina Boulevard, Fort Mason Center, Building D, in San Francisco.
